i found a 55 with tank, lights, hood, pine stand (the expensive perfecto one), anmd gravel for 150. he says the tank has been without water for 2-3 months. is this a good deal?

all is in great shape. the filters are 2 whispers i believe. the lights are the standard black ones that come with the tank...

another guy is offerring his 55 with a wood stand. he wants 90...is that a good price for used?

i appreciate all input on this, as i have never bought any used equipment before, expecially a fish tank. if someone could detail what i should look for with the tank before i hand the man the cash, id appreciate it.
like, what to look for with the seals, the lighting, the stand, the filters, and stuff like that. thanks again!

Most importantly, make sure you don't see any MAJOR cracks or splitting in the silicone. If you see a few minor cracks, don't worry about it-you can fix it for $5. Secondly, ask him to fill the filter to make sure there are no leaks in the canister and make sure the pump is running. The rest is just basic stuff- like no major scratches on stand, no scratches on glass, lights in good shape, etc.

As far as price, both are good deals, but the $150 deal is the best. The stand alone is worth $250 new!

Personally I'd pick up bother tanks...sell the stands here on MFK and build a dual stand for them. Scrap the wispers and go with an air driven Hydro5 and a E400 or ac70 on each tank. Double nickle tanks are popular for good reason and make one of the best utility tanks around...second only to the 60 IMO.

i think the 1st one is the better deal... but ask for pics before you make any decision or visit in person

well, here is the pic of the one for 150. i have no idea what i want to keep in there. id like to get an oscar, or would that be too small for the fish?
