used saltwater filter in fresh water

When I clean sand I put it in a bucket with half the bucket empty, put the hose in the bottom of the bucket the let it run til the water is clean. Then mix up the sand and repeat about 6 times. till I only have clean water.

same here never did any of the other stuff
 
It will be fine once you clean out everything with hot water, but I hope you don't plan on sleeping in the same room as your tank? Emperor 400 works ok but VERY LOUD!!!! You might want and sell them both and get a fluval fx5 or even a 405.
 
they werent loud when I went to see it at his house, and I could sleep through a train running through my house lol

Lol, If thats the case your all good then! I got my emperor 400 on my 55gal RT grow out tank and it's loud! I'm getting a quiet fluval filter this weekend, but the emperor does work pretty good. Good luck with your new tank, post some pics when it's up and running.
 
I def will Im gunna do a before and after thing of everything I clean because the glass tops are bad with salt build up
