I'm using a 6 feet T5HO Aquazonic lightset.

In a tank with black oyama on 4 sides.

Prolly a china made lightset but you can see the difference between my black background and yours.

What lights are you using?

I have five 750 lumen Marineland LED lights. I normally turn some off for photos, it hides the back of the tank and gives me a naturally blacked out background; makes for better photography.

Perhaps you could try photographing Max with some good old fluorescent lights?

Those light up the tank more evenly than the "spotlight" effects of LEDs.
