Is this possible? Or is the bacteria a different type?

Just wondering thinking of doing a saltwater tank and using existing filter off a fw tank. would my tank be cycled?

Also is there any down fall of using poolfilter sand instead of live sand for saltwater, I would like to keep it kinda simple?

Yeah the bacteria is different, I know cause I asked a couple of weeks ago :grinno:

And I think pool filter sand promotes unfavourable growth of diatoms and also lacks the buffering ability of aragonite.

Forget live sand, Ive heard its best to get aragonite and let your LR seed the sand.

Just one newbie trying to help out another so dont get mad if im wrong :nilly:

Hey you wouldnt know the minimum tank size for a pair of clowns now would you :naughty:

are you wanting to breed?? if so i would use like a 20 gallon. a bit of room, but the more room the better, i think?

You need to totallly forget everything you know about FW filtration for SW. You only need live rock/sand & a good skimmer for SW filtration. Go to www.reefcentral.com & scroll down to the reef club forums & see if there are any in your area, for rock sand, etc.

HUH? We're not nice? Who's flaming here? I've found this to be one of the nicest forums I've ever been on.

no, this is a great forum... but salt here is a sub forum, if you go to a salt only forum you can get some good answers fast. you can post here of course, but there is a smaller population here to help.

That's why I like posting here--makes me feel important when I know the answers! ;)
