heart worm medicine can kill a dog ... it is poison.. it has to be the exact right dosage for each dog of different weight.. .. each and every time we use a heart worm medicine for a dog it is doing harm and has side effects.. maybe not enough for you to see.. and maybe not enough to do long term damage in the right dose.. but it is poison .....but in small doses it saves their life..but you should always give it exact time each month because anything else would be overdose ... fish would have no chance even with the tiniest amount unless maybe you were a scientist or vet.

Praziquantel has a very low LD-50 and is harmless when administered in the correct dosage.

I forget off the top of my head, but based on the active ingredient of Praziquantel in the pills, I gave 3 mg/L for my tank. No ill effects, no worms. You don't have to worry with Praziquantel, period.

wow never knew this ..thanks

Yup, Prazi is awesome stuff... the active ingredient in fish meds like PraziPro. It is used with humans too...

My father is a vet so I got my hands on quite a few pills, but I believe they are pretty expensive usually. And I used 2 mg/l (not 3), and dosed it twice over a week period.

I wouldn't try using any other deworm meds than prazi!

Someone in my local aquaria society is trying to get his hands on pure levamisol for camallanus in his tanks. It is supposedly illegal or heavily restricted here in Canada, but supposedly he knows a dosage and a method which proved 100% effective using it. My hope is that he can figure out where it's been leaking in from and I can get some of it. Presently, no worms sticking out anyone's bum but Im still not confident it's gone since 2 fish still did have them post-treatment and had to be removed and euthanized.

I'm not sure if its restricted out of the US but you can buy panacur online on any pet website. or even amazon.com. you can buy 1,2, or 4 gram packets of it.
