using feeder fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I only use feeder fish when I'm out of town for a couple of days or raising juve oscars. But are you looking for a specific answer?????

I never use them, but often smaller fish in my tank get eaten.
THERE IS NO POINT IN USING FEEDER FISH UNLESS YOU HAVE A FISH THAT HAS BEEN PROVEN TO NOT EAT ANYTHING BUT FEEDERS, FOR EXAMPLE CHACA CHACA!!!!

There has to be some type of advantage from using feeder fish? Just throwing that out there.......

I only feed my Oscar fish from my other tanks which have proven their health. I get free mollies from a lady who ends up with too many, then grow them out a bit and feed them to the O very gradually, like less than once per week.
I think they are good for the Oscar as a snack, toy, diversion, exercise and for predatory satisfaction.

I think there would be to just becuase fish are natural food to all carnivorous fish. my fish are very moody when it comes to pellets so usually i find it cheaper just to use feeders and they thrive off of them. i really try to use the most natural diet that i can. usually i will research a fishes natural habitat and natural diet and try to find live foods specifically from the area.

Feeders are a protain bomb, which is ofcourse great. And i am not saying it is unhealthy for the fish if the feeders come from a reliable place. It is just rather pointless to spend $$$ on feeders.
