I was once advised from another board that if you use heat only, it can cure Ich..Well I tried it a few weeks ago and it did cure the Ich..There were a few spots on some of my fishes and I raised to temp to 90 degrees for about 10 days and it wiped the Ich out..Now presently, my clown loaches have it..I am trying it again and hopefully it will cure it..I think this method works best if there are just a few spots and not that many..In any case, the spots on my clown loaches dont seem to be multiplying..

I like this method because, some fishes might be sensative to salt or medication and it eliminates all that..Also, some Ich meds might wipe out the bio filter..Only thing I am concerned about is if the fish can handle the heat....

I like to throw some salt in there with the heat. The heat will speed up the ich life cycle, then the salt will kill it in its mobile phase. It doesn't suprise me that just heat clears up early outbreaks though. But still, if it were me, I would throw in a little salt too.

Some fishes are sensative to salt like clown loaches are from my experience..The scaleless type of fishes are sensative to salt..

then use commercial ich treatments. there are several brands that are safe for scaleless fish.

I was wondering, if a product says that it is safe for scaleless fish, do you believe it 100%? Well, as you can see, I am not a big fan of meds..And what about your bio filter? You know the bio filter that keeps the water in good condition..Meds can easily wipe that thing out and it can lead to more problems than the Ich itself!

Just dont get excessive with the salt. I've never had any problems with any clown loaches that I've treated. I just lower the dosage a bit.
