Allright I give in, you guys use salt and meds....Sorry I posted this advice..Later..

Do what you want; they are your fish. I agreed with you in my first post, and then I described my method of treating ich (some people like hearing different views/opinions/methods -- I guess you don't, and I'll keep that in mind from now on). I use that method because it works, that's all. I'm open minded to other methods, but as long as this one works, it will be what I use. You use what works for you. There is no need to freak out when someone offers other opinions though. You seem to do that a lot.

Hey I am sorry..I just thought this method of heat alone would save you some anxiety about putting something unnatrual in the tank that is all..

No worries, man. It makes sense, and it's definately easier than mixing up batches of salt water to add.

I personally have never used salt or meds in my tanks. For ich, all I do is raise the temp just like you. Good Job.

Adding air bubbles to the combination will also help a ton.

I have cured ich with warm temp and feeding Garlic Guard to my fish. I soaked their food in it then feed it to them after a few days the ich went away!

You have to realize that a lot of people do not find this practice of using only heat to cure Ich..Many books and websites always point out to add other things, like salt or meds..Using just heat is not a widly accepted view..

And by the way, my clowns are Ich free, it seems but I am still maintaining the temps..

The high water temp method works well, it is more effective if you add some salt but if you dont feel comfortable with the salt then dont use it. One thing i have done on my loach community tank is to leave the water temp at 82-83 degrees permanently, i believe it helps prevent ich from returning.

That high of a temperature can sometimes be stressful to certain fish, too..

The thought of preventing Ich with a higher temperature is unlikely.. Extreme temps can kill the free-floating parasite that is very vulnerable to a wide range of things, such as salt, formalin, malachite green, extreme temps.. heres some more info on the parasite Ich.. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/ich.php
