Hey guys I am just curious if you know of any adverse health effects that can occur from keeping rays in plastic bins for extended periods of time. Could the plastics leak anything into the water? I am looking for something I can keep a female ray in for a period of time while she puts some size on.

Sorry but I disagree. Coming from a saltwater background we had to be sure that the plastic was considered "potable" which is compatible with food sources. Even then phosphate could leach out. Look at the bottom of your milk or pop containers. There will be a rating letting consumers know what the plastic is made from and what kind of food sources it is compatible with.Such as a triangle with the letters HPDE and a number. Furthermore if the plastic held a toxic substance in the past it will release these later on.

I know plecos can chew on the plastic resulting in death from bits of plastic in there belly.I would think rays can do the same.
