Using Liquid Nitrogen To Treat Parasites

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think soda would cause a lot of burns to the fish but here is a video of the liquid nitrogen thing I was talking about.
Dude this must be a freakin joke why in the hell would you do that to your fish. And secondly I think it’s bogus

Well hey try to Char a fish next and see if it’ll come back lol!
I put my fish in the fireplace, pretty sure parasites are dead, but my fish are black and burnt, confused ? How do I revive them?
Does barbecue work?
Oh and I took a bite is that ok?

I’ve put my finger in liquid nitrogen. For about 0.1 seconds.

In that video the fish was in there for less than 5 seconds. That’s not enough time to freeze solid, it probably just froze the slime coat and surface water.

As far as freezing solid, bringing back to life is a little iffy. There are companies now that will freeze YOU solid in liquid nitrogen, since it can freeze you without destroying your cells. They just can’t thaw you yet, since they don’t know how without killing you...

There was an article in popular mechanics about it also https://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/a17766/cryogenically-freeze-a-fish-video/

In the video I showed they released the fish a while later so I am not sure about long term effects. I was wondering though if you had a critically ill fish with ich or anchor worms or something if it might be worth a shot. Though I am not sure whether the parasites would also be able to survive.

That is true that you can stick parts of your body in liquid nitrogen for a few seconds and be totally fine thanks to the leidenfrost effect squint referred to.

Leidenfrost is effect isn’t in play when the fish is frozen. It’s like sticking my hand in magna and it coming out burnt is not LF in effect

BBQ works most of the time depends on the fish I usually use butter and lemon to revive ;)
