The extension cord runs from my bedroom into my living room, and the prostitutes trip on it in the dark. Have you ever had to administer first aid to a prostitute?

I'd leave it on for a couple of weeks like Rallysman said just to be safe. I'd also check the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels every couple of days just to be safe. another choice though would be to remove the media from the 10-20 and put it in the 20-40. there should be enough room for the media from both filters.

just as a side note I don't think a 20-40 will be enough filtration on a 37 gallon tank. if it says 20-40 then imo it's good for up to 20 gallons. the 30-60 is good for up to 30 gallon tanks. I have a couple of 30-60's and I run them on either a 29 or 30 gallon tank. if the fish that will remain in the 37 are messy fish I think you'll either need a bigger filter or a second filter as the fish get bigger. :)

Yep. I think I will get the 30-60 and put the 20 on my 15 tank with flow control at min

Transfer as much of the sludge from you old filterpads to the new filter then let the old filter run for just a couple days more. That will seed the new media very quickly.

sounds good, but I'd still run the filter at 3/4 to full flow even on those size tanks. the only time I'd turn them down is when feeding. :)

Thanks for the info. Do Platys and swords appreciate that much flow?

imo the flow created by a whisper 20-40 on a 15 gallon tank shouldn't cause any problems for platys or swords. :)
