Using Pond Melafix?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
wat kinda injury.. As we know it.. Most rays are sensitive to medication..
So every medication is still risky.. But if it calls for it.. Give a try..
I tried regular Melafix.. But nvr pond Melafix.. Good luck..

I was told by a discus breeder/shop owner that it'd exactly the same stuff but highly concentrated and.having large tanks its better value to buy it too.

I have lost rays before and the only medication being used in the tank was melafix and pimafix. I would use with caution! I was treating other fish in the tank and it ended up killing two of my rays.

don't bother with the mela/pimafix, they're useless. keep your water quality up and the ray should heal itself. you never said what type of injury. ammonia burn? heater burn? chomped by another fish?

my rays do damage to each other all the time at feeding time i have never had the need to add anything

the 1st thing everyone says is add salt WHY i have only used it once after getting advice from others and found it a waste of time

in 20 years of ray keeping i have never added salt apart from that one time and will never add it again

its what i always did and it never had a ill effect... clean water is the best way to start anything for them but if something doesnt hurt and helps there is no reason not to do it... you know how all this goes buddy we all got our own opinions like we all got our own :WHOA:

I stingray has almost no tail because of a fungas and internal injury. It was caused because of poor shipping. It was in to little water and its tail was wrapped in a sponge filter. It will never look like a normal ray but it can be cleaned up. It will take about 2-3 to heal this issue. Despite all this the ray is active and still eats.Ive been adding salt to the tank. You guys are right I will stay away from melafix.
