UV and attached algae

i can see how uv's would be useful without algae purposes

some fish species require a low bacteria count in the water column such as rays.

A uv set at the right flow could keep down these bacteria numbers preventing problems before they have a chance to manifest.

I ran UV continuously on my 240 for a while. I did not see a huge change in attached algae until I dumped 20 ancistrus in there and changed the feeding regimen.

I have noticed that once I scrub attached algae from acrylic, it seems to leave the acrylic slightly rougher and the algae seems to re-attach easier.
