UV filter.

Aqua UV is one of the top brands, I believe Emperor Aquatics is the name of the other one. New my unit is a bit over $800, I got lucky and found someone selling it used for $35.

But yes you are correct. There are different levels of sterilization, what level you achieve depends on contact time and a couple other things. I don't know many of the details, just that most used are not nearly long enough contact to kill anything other than algae.

My unit is large enough that I can turn over a good amount of water through it and still achieve killing some of the more simple pathogens, though it won't get everything. That is what the ozone is for :p

^ Forsure!! All safe guards can only help! Also from what I have read, UV Clarify and sterilize are different. One being for algae the other for pathogens.

May I ask keepinfish keepinfish what wattage your UV is and flow rate through it?

kendragon kendragon is the man as far as sizing up your UV. me personally would recommend W LIM Corporation as far as UV's.

On my ray tank which is only a 6x3x2 i run a 25W Wave WLIM with about 450-500 gph feeding it.
For the guys with big tanks, it can get expensive for a properly sized UV
