UV LIGHT FOR TURTLE

so the light is more important than the uv light connected to the powerhead???
why would the turtle need the light that much more than the bacteria in the water being killed???


i can get the UV light maybe later...but i will have aros so that is whty i dnt want an opening on top of my tank.
 
what about a cannistrer filter that has a uv light in it?? cmon guys im in desperate need of something asap im thinking hes gona get shell rot anytime soon.
 
so the UV Light with powerhead is not neccessary at all? I just need to get the Light with a domelamp????
 
O K you don't seem to be getting it. the turt needs UVB shinning on it for vitamin production internally, example they get sunlight in the wild don't they? the UV sterilizer uses uv light to sterilize the water which protects you from crap in your water. i think if you put a uvb light on a canister you will just produce the crud you don't want, bacteria.
 
and i dont need the UV light to sterilize the water?? I will only give him 3 emperor 400's as filtration..that is why i was planning on getting that UV sterilizer with powerhead rather then the uvb light. so i think ill just get the UVB LIGHT and forget about the sterilizer???? this is what yall are recommending

will a 4'' bulb that push around 9watt be sufficient for the turt??
 
UV Sterilizer: Using UVC Light, water passing through this unit destroys harmful bacteria and neutralizes negative particles. This is an enclosed unit, you can not see light. The light causes cell damage.

UV Light: An actual light, that produces specific beneficial wavelengths that living beings absorb through their skin, to produce Vitamin D, which is essential for the proper absorption of Vitamins and Minerals from their diet. These lights must not be blocked by Glass or Acrylic, which will usually reflect back nearly all the good radiation.


Both will be very helpful. They do not do the same thing.
