I wanna know if i need UV fliter. I am upgrading to a 220g and its a fresh water tank. And if i need 1, what would you recommend.

i would only use the uv if you have a problem with disease or if there is an outbreak in conjunction w/ the meds.

U.V sterilizers do not negativly affect your water quality, in fact, they can actually raise your ORP level.
You don't need a U.V. sterilizer. The advantage to using one is that it it may decrease parasite out brakes. That's really about thier main advantage. If you keep fish that are parasite prone or have a situation that your aquarium is not as stable as desired, it may be a consideration to have one. Likewise, if you keep fish that are sensitive to medications it may be a good idea. I use them and like them but by no means are they absolutly necessary.
It's an issue of good better and best. A well designed system might be a little better with U.V. sterilization. On that size aquarium, I personally would use a 30 watt.

thanks. My fishes are in good health. It's just that, sometimes i feed them w/ feeders. And as you all know, it's like playing russian rollete. Hit or miss. And if UV will increase the likely of having no parasites, i might get 1.

Yup, you always tell me to stop doing that. It's just that the thrill of watching them hunt for their food.
Remember the bulbs in UV's need replacing yearly at least and UV's need monthly cleaning to remain effective -Anne
i am going to get a 25w UV for my tank soon its not worth the risk with expensive fish.
paying and extra £90 for a UV is better than losing £100's worth of fish.
