UV setup for 350g?

NC-Nutcase, thank you for the clarification.

I have the Green Killing Machine 24 watt with pump. It doesn't flow much, very slow. But it made my 120 clearer within hours. The manufacturer states that the slow flow rate is to maximize sterilizing time. It all makes sense now.

Thanks for all the input guys. I think the idea of splitting off of my return and putting the UV on its own leg is probably the best idea. That way I can control the flow through the device without restricting the actual flow back to the tank.

With the exception of electrical usage and cost of bulb replacement... Using a 240 W UV light when an 80 W UV light is sufficient will not cause any problems...

I used a 40W on a 75 Gal tank for over a year simply because that's what I had available... Which is about three times the suggested size, the same ratio you are considering...

Bulbs can be fairly pricey though, so I would price the replacement bulb before you get to happy about this score. Also find out how many hours the current bulb has been in use. It's possible the replacement bulb for a 240W UV lamp will cost more than an entire 80W unit.
