UV Sterilizer Heating Tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i know this is an old thread but i had my suspicions of the same problem so i found this thread.
I just bought a new canister filter (jbj reaction 4 stage efu35) it has a built in sterilizer.
i kept it on over night with the uv and when i woke up i was surprised to see that it had gone from 80 to 86 (29g tank) so i turned off the uv option of the filter and the temperature has started to drop.
because it is built into the filter it need not go through any other motors other than those in the filter already so i have concluded that it actually is the uv.
not the pump
and the heater wasnt pluged in at time

I usually don't add to old dug up threads but somehting caught my attention.

I don't think the UV should be connected to the temp controller. The bulbs have a certain numbers of hours before they need replaced, on off cycles also can lead to wearing out. So if connected to a temp controller it will cycle a lot more and become less effective faster.
