Yes

Then you were not using your UV light as recommended to kill parasites...
I've been using UV lights to raise/breed Blue Dempseys for several years and Blue Dempseys are well known to be prone to parasitic infections. I've never once lost a Blue Dempseys to parasitic infestion when using UV lights on their tank...
I've added a UV light to a tank that was having a parasite outbreak and within a couple of days the parasites were apparently gone and the fish instantly began getting better & acting normal...
I see A LOT of people "try out" UV lights but do so with to weak of a light or at to high of a flow rate and then claim the UV failed them, when in reality, the person failed the UV light...

i am meaning paracites (the worms that fish can get).
What colour light does the uv tube emit?
This is completely untrue. Water changes do nothing to stop an existing disease outbreak...
Water changes do help keep the fish 'healthy' including keeping their immune system strong to fight off disease...
If parasites are in the system, doing a water change does nothing to remove them. Logically whatever is free floating in the water that is removed will be taken out of the system, but it would require a constant high volume water change for several days to remove "all" of them this way.
Which is effectively what the UV light does. It does not "change" 100% all of the water constatnly, but it does "sterilze" the water on a continuous basis...
UV clarifieers/sterilizers utilize UV-C rays to sterilize/purify the water...
I don't mean to sound rude, but it drives me nuts how often I see bogus information passed around this site based on speculative details...
