I have heard that before...I dont know if I buy it or not. It only kills the ick that passes through the UV...so there could still be some in the tank....but even with out that...I dont know if they become week...jmo.
Ich has 3 stages of life.

Free floating, where it can be killed by UV, High temps, and salt.

On the fish, where it lives under the fishes skin and causes the white bumps, this stage is unaffected by anything put in the water

And as cysts, they drop to the bottom in (disgusting) lumps. These are protected from salt, heat, and uv. This is why the only way to get rid of ich fast involves exteremely frequent gravel vacuumings.

Aqua Ultraviolet 15w. I'm running a 25w right now, works great. It will also make your water crystal clear.

how bout the fact that the water have to stay in the uv chamber for at least 3 seconds to kill anything
so you will need a very slow pump

Me either. I have heard if the water is passing fast it will only kill algae....when it slows down is when it works on the bugs too. You want it slow...

I've never had experience with UVs, but wouldn't slower be better because the water gets a longer exposure period to the UV light? Unless there is a negative impact of water being overexposed, I think slower should be better, especially if you only run the UV a few hours during the day, like some pond owners do. I'm thinking about adding UV to my systems too.

You want the water relatively slow. However that's what's good about the twist. Instead of water zipping right through it it goes in a spiral pattern to keep the time the water is exposed to the light greater.

Is this a buy/sell thread or discussion?

Good luck with your search. Let me know what you decide on so I can get one too. I've been considering one for quite some time.
