yeah ... my 210 gal had that until the bulb & quartz insert needed to be replaced at a combined cost of over $120.00 (about $60.00 each) and a brand new 18 watt pond UV sterilizer was only $99.00 at Lowes Home Improvement and I had an extra Magnum 350 canister filter system to pump the water through it.

but on the 90 - it isn't drilled and set up with a sump - it has an eclipse enclosed top on it with 2 pumps, 4 bio wheels and 4 - 48inch bulbs (2 white & 2 blue).

...besides that ... it seems like a UV after the bio balls would kill off the beneficial bio organisms, and that doesn't make sense to me.

It will kill off most all bacteria, that's it's job...but it won't kill off the BB in the filter and your not replenishing the bb in the filter from the water, the bb multiplies in the bio-material.

VITRUVIAN sorry for the derail, just wanted to clear this up.

Aquarium_Fish if you have any other questions please start another thread, thanks.
