UV Sterilizer

no clue what brand sterilizer. i asked about it over the phone. the cheapest they have is a Tetra one...that cost $150 but only push 9watt or something. i asked for the best and they said hte 18watt $210

stock of tank will be 3 silver arowana and 1 FRT.

maybe my frontosas and various cichlids..wont overcrowd tank though.
 
i add a canister personally with the HOB filters... but 18 watt on 160 GPH should be good...
 
wat ttype of canister? And i had problems with cannisters before....bought those magnums and everyimt i open it to clean it overfloods and spills all over!
 
Tetra is a known brand no? And they said the brand and quality for the higher watt UV is good...so the 18watt isnt tetra not sure what brand, and the 9watt is tetra.

so getting a UV is a must and not an option for you?

honestly i want to get wet/dry but i dont think itd be smart if i had the sump next to wher the water comes back in... the way my tank is on the stand, im not too sure with the wet/dry.

yes i will have 2 emperor400 and 1 ac110 on the tank...i just wanted something extra for filtration

I'm not a big fan of Tetra at all. I have had bad experience with their Tetra Whisper hang on the back filter.

Getting a UV is always an option. Thinking of buying a UV as a life insurance policy. Do you must have it? NO. Is it good to have as added protection? YES For a 300 gallon tank 18w is the minimum you want. Of higher watts is better but it will close more. Get 18w and use a low flow powerjet or canister running water through it.

For me I got a UV when I started buying fish over $100 each.
 
hmm. so u think a aquaclear 70 powerhead will be good on the 18w? or should i get something stronger

I used Coral life TWIST. I personally like this brand. There are a few other good brands. Maybe someone can chime in.

How many GPH(flowrate is gallon per hour) will a AC 70 powerhead produce? Will you be mounting the UV below the tank or directly behind it?
 
if anything id have to place it on the side of tank.
or on top.

not too sure, around 100 something but i read somewhere up to 400gal? I doubt it.
how many GPH do u recommend on a 18w??
