if anything id have to place it on the side of tank.
or on top.

not too sure, around 100 something but i read somewhere up to 400gal? I doubt it.
how many GPH do u recommend on a 18w??
180-230gph is good. A canister of 320gph packed with media will push out about 230-250gph. The key is to give enough time for the UV penetrate and kill microbes as it's exposed to the light.

so wouldnt a 160gph pump be good enough?

i dont plan on adding a canister to it till maybe later in hte future. but for now 1 ac110 and 2 emperor 400 for 3 aros and 1 turtle with the UV added with a pump and a spongefilter should b good righT?

Turtle and fish shouldn't mix. Your fish might end up being the turtle meal. Ya 160gph is good enough for a UV. If you're diligent with water change and algae scrubbing then you don't have to have a UV. This is only if you want to save money.

i do water change every 3 days no matter what. i just wnat to ensure most of bacteria that i cant see out of the water from my specimen is living in. i wont get algae in my tank i highly doub tit. the sun will barely hit my tank. algae isnt what im worried about. its the bacteria!

If bacteria is what you're worried about then UV should help. It'll solve mysterious fish deaths that a lot of us have no explanation for.

one last question, how should i set this up without connecting the sterilizer to any sort of filter like cannisters and HOB's. should i get a pump or a powerhead?

yes to your last question.

so which si it...the pump or the powerhead lol.. how would i connect the powerhead if its in the water??? I wanted where the water gets suckd in prob connect a sponge filter ...then maybe where the water comes out of the powerhead connect a tube connected to the sterilizer????
