Very true. A good effective UV unit operates hot (more intensity). It is very important to size it correctly otherwise excessive wattage will cook fish. Also, too slow of a flow which many suggest will cook seals.
Just beware of sizing by charts. As mentioned above level 2 per the chart requires 250W but when I run the program for 2000gph, what really is required is 120W.

Thanks, I guess I'll let this thing run for a few days and check the temp. What are the odds it'll heat the water to a nice 82°? It would keep me from having to buy heaters. Waters sitting at 75° now

Not much for heating water unless its a monster one in a small tank. Get a heater. Change ur bulb every 10 or so months and keep the flow slow thru it so u get max effectivness!!
