Who are using them and how are they worked into your system(pics would be great)? What type are you using and do you think its made a big diff?

There's nothing else like 'em.

There are self-contained ones (with their own pumps) so you don't over-flow them, or you can split your return, hooking it one return line to limit flow. Hooking them to the return line keeps them cleaner longer.

Just size the one you get for your tank and you won't regret it.

The bulb does need to be replaced every 6-12 months tho, so check the price on thoses too.

The outside wall of our living room is floor to ceiling picture windows. There are also two large skylights in the room. Our 300 gallon is in sunlight all day long, and developed a green water problem. Since we couldn't control the amount of light hitting the tank, we connected a 40 Watt Lifeguard UV sterilizer to the FX-5 filter. The UV sterilizer very quickly cleared up the green water problem.

Before the UV sterilizer was added to our filtration system:

We're pleased with our UV sterilizer

?... That's microwattseconds per square centimeter. I can live with that exposure time.

Just a good article. Wasn't downplaying importance, or worth of them :) Most important is not to undersize the sterilizer, and that slower flow rates are better for killing more stuff.

So most of these are inline before a canister? Do you try and match the flow ratings between the 2?
