Are there any bulbs that provide Uvb AND heat for basking at the same time?

Seems as all the bask bulbs only do Uva.
It is really a pain in the backside to have a bask bulb then switch to Uvb.

That one and I think another one from T-rex:confused: There is yet another one called ultravitalux from osran. Im not however a big fun of these "cook your lizards inside and out" lamps;) What is it for?

Apalone Ferox.Don't they need UVB?
I know he sure basks under the incandescent alot!He likes to dry out, so I provide that option for him.

All of those are called Mercury Vapor Bulbs, just in different brands.

Mercury Vapor Bulbs, that's what you want.

Not if it's a non-reptile bulb.Seems the regular use ones have UV coatings on them!

I wish I could use a regular Mercury Vapor, they're cheap!

That's what I meant. It's just that it's kind of late and I'm kind of super sleepy LOL. The regulars need UV coatings because they're around people a lot, and so they could cause cancer.

See, it's a ripoff though. The bulbs WITH the additional coating are cheaper than the bulbs WITHOUT the coating simply because the bulbs without it are manufactured by some pet-supply maker. The same way that if you compare the price of cat food to fish food, cat food is much MUCH cheaper, but you can still feed it to fish.

Defenetly not a good idea:grinno: But back on topic, that kind of lamp is a way overkill for your florida softy;) All you need is a Zoomed´s reptisun 5.0 and your done (and you can use it alone as in my experience it produces some heat and all my turts bask under them, just make shure you have a mesh covering it) :D In my opinion thouse kind of lamps are only needed for desert animals like uromastix and beardys and perhaps ocasionaly for green igs and others. A regular 5.0 fullfills your softy uv needs
