Just seen here in the UK the Nat geo programme called 'Megafish'-all about the Giant Mekong Catfish. Had some massive fish and some huge freshwater stingrays. well worth viewing

Great info! Creating awareness about true monster freshies! Gotta make you wonder why natural resources usually has a size restriction on fish bags - why take only the large breeding stock? Freshwater ecosystems need large apex predators to keep in balance. This I'm sure is a question that has been raised many times.

it is because you arent going to catch all the big fish, also a lot of people practice catch and release and it also gives the younger fish a chance to spawn.
