clockwork. also do the blackbelts lose their color and take on more of the white color your male has? right now i see all kinds of colors on him but not alot of white

Hey guys just added an Argentea, Regani, and Maculicauda to my 240 all between 5"-7.5" and thye seem to be doing great so far. Been in the tank 2 days and the black belt is the most out going even though the argentea is the biggest. The Argentea follows the black belt everywhere and the regani is always off doing his own thing with the 3" dovii fry lol. all males BTW

Nice! Post some pics!

There are so many different looking strains of maculicauda it seems... I've seen ones that don't even really have "belts." So I really don't know how yours will color up. Are they from Gage? Should be the same strain Lee Nuttall has right now then...

yes they are from Gage. As a matter of fact he looks EXACTly like the ones on the bottom, mine has a "half belt" aswell. which i dont mind if he isnt the "pure" white strain as my Argentea will have the white covered.

here are some crappy iphone pics of the tank setup and the fish.. hard to get good ones of the BB and Reani as they dont sit still for too long.

Here is my strategy with bigger tanks. Besides lots of hiding spots and putting them all together when they are young, I think having a backup plan is essential. My 180 started with a lot of options and whenever I see someone who is getting picked on I take them out and move them to their own tank.

My 180: Fx5, Magnum, Emperor 400
Jag
Cuban
Festae
JD
GT
Pearsei

Fish that have been moved out:
2 Synspillum (their own 180)
9 Clown loaches (have their own 55 with a BGK and balas)
Texas (he is in his own 90 gallon with his convict wife, they have babies that are used as feeders)
Lyonsi (180 gallon with the Robertsoni and Festae)
Robertsoni
Female Festae

good thread, introducing when young, all males, lots of hiding places/territories helps but isn't guaranteed. you never know what will or will not work out unless you try it and a rehoming plan is a must. i started with 24 or so medium to large males and now down to 19, its been three months. i see that going to 15 or less by end of the year as they all get bigger but for now things seem to be 'ok'.

I am running a 125 gallon with a cascade 1200 canister filter and 2 marine land 400 bio wheels and it has a

Female la clba Freddy 6" also 2 grow outs that are 2" and 1" 1/2
Male Red islatham 4"
Male Cuban 4" a Chuco micropthaliums 2" ( I just got him from Rapps)

Everything has worked out fine in my tank. They all know the Freddy runs the tank and stays out of here way if I put something new in and she don't like him or her then I have to get rid of it. I have others in that tank to like:

Geophagus brailensis 5"
Ornate bichir 13"
2 spotted raphael catfish both 4"

I haven't had any deaths and or wounds i think adding every young and small helps make that fish get along better thats what I have had the best luck doing
