V.Synspilum VS V.melanurus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just wanted to add, going off the Latin name melanurus, as in melanin (the dark pigment in skin) hence melanurus have much more of a dark coloration than synspilum.

Synspilum! And its not cause I just got 2 of them.

Many scientific types actually believe them to be regional variants of the same species, which would be V. melanurus based on it's senority. But testing would have to be done to confirm.

Melanurus are the prettier of the 2 in my book. They typically have a more slender, elongate shape where a Syn is more of a pan fish. Mel's have a pitch black striping on the lower half of the body with a lot of gold color in the top half. I've kept both. An adult Melanurus is realllly nice.

IMO, melanurus are more orange and lack the pink and blues. Snyps tend to have orange, pink, and blues. Overall, both look great IMO. Both are unique to its own.
