I don't think discus will last more than a week without food and Cichla wont last 2 days LMAO jkin but they practically eat anything that seems to be some what edible when no food is avalible. Personally I would leave my fish for a week and a half when I went on vacations with no problems at all. One time I went for 3 weeks so I just put each feeding amount in a ice tray and poured water in and froze it so it would be perfect feeding protions for the person taking care of the tank and pluss they got a little toy as well. I also had premixed water in rubbermaids (300 gallon tub and a 100 gallon) with a heating unit and a pump and said just pump the water out and pump it back in for the water changes
