So I have a normal vampire pleco who is about 5 inches give or take of which I believe to be a male. I also have a golden vampire pleco thats about 2 and a half - 3 inches. Not sure of gender as I never see the fish. I was doing some research and saw that the golden gets half the size of the normal. Is there any possibility of these two fish cross breeding? Does anyone else have a golden vampire? That fish, I kid you not never comes out. I never see it. I know its there because he runs around when I do a water change but thats it. If it comes out of the cave and I make eye contact across the room its gone like the wind. I've had the fish at least 6 months if not longer. Never opened up like the rest of them.

not a gold nugget, it was labeled as a golden vampire, L172a is the L number I found

Yeah that pic is a vampire, not gold nugget.

apologies, it looked like a gold nugget, but yeah no, it doesn't look like that. This is what it looks like

There is a small chance of crossbreeding. As far as being shy my sultan is the exact same way

the golden vampire pleco is Leporacanthicus heterodon not L172a

I've always been a fan of the golden vampires but not the regular vampires I have one of their cousins the L264 Sultan
