i have the one on top but i sure would like to get the one on the bottom. hes the one i like. but my dealer cant get any just yet. so i am waiting

I really love my school of Payara all between 5 to 7 inches! 8 at the moment with 10 more coming next week! They are all the bottom one and seem to be growing fast! I have some of the redfined ones coming in also so i am hoping they dont fight. The school i have seem to be doing good, sometimes they do chase each other around. 125 with 100 bucks of hanging reptile vines seem to do good they all just hang under the vines. The complete school will be going into a 240. My question is does anybody know when its time to do the rabid fast cuurrent assilmation with massive powerheads lining one side of the tank. So far my biggest guy still never swims much, mostly hangs and picks off the endless supply of danios and guppys.

I'm not sure. I don't know if there is an exact size to move them in to a fast current. I would just give them one side with a lot of movement and another that is calmer. That way they can choose which side they would like to be on themselves. If you notice that they are all hanging out in the current, then you could start adding more.

Just curious, how many total are you planing on keeping in the end? Do you notice that they actually school together? I have one now and am considering getting more and was just wondering how they react to eachother. Let's see some pics of your huge school too!

i use to have three that looked alot like the ones at the bottom. what exactly are they called. when i bought them at the store they had them listed as vampire tetra. they got to be about 8-10 inches and i got an offer on them i couldnt refuse. a friend offered me a baby alligator for all three

What size of tank do you have your Vulps in? You are the first I have come across that has Vulps of decent size. I believe 12 in. is the largest living one I have heard of in a hobbyist aquarium.

The easiest way to tell the Hydros apart is the gill plate and adipose (sp) fin.

I think you could positively identify by just the fin.
Black/brown=Scomb
Red/Maroon=Tat
Bright orange=Armatus

Any one confirm this? (KRS)

I believe this to be fairly accurate. I have Vulps,Scombs, and Tats in the same tank. And I have drooled over enough Armatus pics to know they have VERY bright fins.
