i purchased a vampire tetra at local pet store, read info on net bout their habits.. i tried to feed him feeders, but he will not eat, i had him bout a week now, and he still hasnt eaten. the local pet store told me to feed him brine shrimp but i think thats wrong, i tried and he just freaked out when i put some brine shrimp in. i tried feeding him red roseys, goldfish, ghost shrimp. earthworm, he hasnt eaten.. what can i do to try to make him eat something? thanks for the help any info would be appreciated.

Sometimes fish are too stressed in a new environment and refuse to eat, it's pretty common in some fish imo. It could also be that he may not have been fed on live food and may have been taught to accept pellets or dead shrimp.

This is a big family of fish and most lfs"s will sell any of them under this name,maybe because the vampire name helps sell them or maybe because of laziness but you must find just which one you have.Whichever one you do happen to have,is probably fine and just needs a few days to acclimatize and settle in.One of the vampire tetras that I have is actually a redtail tat and it didnt eat anything untill almost a month after I got it.
Mine did not eat for a month as well. Just keep a eye on him as these fish are very easily stressed and can get ick easily cause of the stress. You might want to think about adding some salt and uping the temp to help the fish fight this off while it acclimates.
thanks everyone for your help, i went and got smaller red tuffys, and he ate today, but now he formed a small bump on his lower lip, its not ick, just like clear bump, the pet store said its from hitting against rocks, but i dont have rock is it possible he been bumping it against the glass? he has been more active now, just i havent notice any strange behavior. thanks again guys for your help. its appreciated muchly
here is photos of the fish i bought him at brothers pet store in independence, missouri. he been eating a lil. i got some medicine and they told me to run my aquarium without any media in the filter just a white pad to cure the sore for 7 days.
