Sold to me as Nasferatu. I realize the pics are not ideal....Nightime shots under moon lights. He lives in the caves in my 120.....first appearance in six weeks. Looks healthy enough. Two pics....one with flash.IMG_1199.JPGPLECO.jpg IMG_1201.JPGPLECO 2.jpg

Wish I could better pics.....Literally the first time I have ever seen it out!!

No opinions? Everytime I see a pic of Vampire Pleco it seems a different fish!!

yes its a vampire good look chap too, That's why I like the bushynose and L 24 and L25. they are are out even with the lights on I keep a lot of wood in my tank which the 24 hides under but still he comes out with the lights on and will go up and down the glass, the trick I think is massive weekly water changes which I do on my 80

Thanks!! This guy is just starting to come out......came out today under the lights. Still out chomping on my rock structure. Almost 5" now. I have tons of wood in tank but I have only seen him on it once.

Definitely a vampire. I got one sold to me as a galaxy plec. (Named him Spock). Mine is about 3” and constantly hides. Good to know yours is starting to come out. Maybe he just needs to get bigger. I also have a sail fin gold spot ( named Dax) that’s out all the time. Got them about the same time and size. Galaxy used to get territorial, but sail fin seems to be growing a bit faster and they leave each other alone now.

I recently raised the tank temp to 84-85 and added salt to head off potential ICK on two Kelberi.....Noticed micro bubblles adhering to the bass...no one else. Taking no chances. The L29 has become more active in the warm water. I was at 80 before.

That long face says vampire for sure!
I do 80+% water changes a week, and my vampire is the second spookiest fish in the tank (king tiger is 1st). I have three kinds of wood and rock caves, and even a couple pieces of ABS pipe. My vampire prefers this one pipe no matter where I put it. He comes out at night after lights out, but not a pleco that's easy to show off.
Mine is also not quite as striking in contrasting colors as yours is!
Nice fish dude!

Yes, absolutely a vampire. More specifically, it appears to be L007.
I've had L240, L264, L091 & Heterodon. From my experience, I have no idea if it's the norm or not, my L91 and L264 hid all the time, with the exception of one small 264 that was always on the move. The L240 was shy at first but became more outgoing as it got larger. Was about 7" when I lost it. My Heterodons seemed to be the most outgoing of all.

In case you weren't already aware, Leporacanthicus need meat in their diet. Mine loved shrimp and worms.
