My 7" common opened up the food latch once, on one of his anger jumps when the acara ticks him off. He then seised the moment and landed on my confused dog, who was then escorted from the area while the pleco was put back in the tank.

I bet the dog must have had a wet surprise... lol

I've had a pleco vanished on me before.. it was a baby sailfin.. was doing fine until it got caught between a flowerpot and some driftwood... I didnt find him until i notice my water was very cloudy and the little guy was decaying..

WAS NOT A PRETTY SITE

I would check around decorations or gravel.. A fish doesnt vanish unless there are giant tankmates around.....

I've had so many different types of fish do their suicide jumps on me, the latest one was a mudminnow. I didn't know I was missing one until I was vaccuuming one one of the bedrooms, mind you that specific tank is about 10 feet away in another room. That dang fish flip-flopped out of that room, down the hall, turned down another corner, turned another way flipped all the way to that bedroom.

Very interesting places I have found dried fish I'm telling you. I also have found so many fish in the HOB myself alive after I've given up on them being long dead when I notice them missing.

I have had that same thing happen to me 2 times both times I lost a baby pleco the first time I found it a 2 days later on the other side of the house .. only way that could of happened it jumped out of the tank and my cat got it carried it and for some reason decided no to eat it . the other time my filter gaurd came undone during the middle of the night and after a few hours I got to looking at the water flow coming from my filter was barley coming out so when I took it apart there he was stuck in the tube each time I felt bad for the poor fish but got to try and do better learn from our mistakes and keep doing what we do and take care of our fish :)
