Oh man, how weird! i just took a closer look.... my airline hose was somehow back siphoning and slowly puring out of the pump, i had it turned off because i didnt want to agitate the water to much, so it created a suction and sucked out the water...
Pumps that are turned off and below a tank must have a check valve, or they will back siphon. $2 for a check valve, $XX for possible damages, plus cost of your pump.

if you let it dry out it should be fine...

Eh, if it was off when this happened and you let it dry for weeks then turned it back on, and that's if the water flow didn't damage the diaphragm.

I agree, in the air pump section you can find little valves that you cut the line apart and attack each end of the line to, it has a spring and a door and allows air (or water) to go in one water, but when pressure is exerted from the other way, it closes. A very good 99 cent purchase.

Air pumps are very easy to open and let the housing and magnet dry out, good.
I wouldn't trash it yet, let it dry for a week, more if you can wait, open it first though.
Phillips head.I used to open them a lot when I was young!

how do you not notice 20+ gallons of water on yer floor?

but yeah.. check valves are a musthave...

so you had a hard time finding where 20+ gallons of water disappeared too?:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

and the carpet was still dry?

I dont get it, you said the tube is siphioning the water out to the pump (1st day 22G, 2nd day 20G) thats total of 42G of water. I dont think your pump can store 42G of water, so where is the water gone to? (dont tell me the electric fried the water and turn it into gas)
