Hello; Some how the girl doing a supervised climb with her father does not seem the same to me as the stupid unsupervised stunts that appear in those video shows. No where near the same care taken and no where near the same safety measures taken. You are entitled to an opinion as am I, but there is a big difference. I get the point that cameras are plentiful so more stuff is filmed. But this climb is not an example of something stupid.
No a girl doing that climb is not exactly the same as those other unsupervised stunts (though I must admit I do not know exactly what stunts/videos you are referring to), but here's some (since you specifically mentioned skateboarding, not all of which are supervised):
And of course there are also many (often painful looking) 'Fail' videos on YouTube -- some due to stupidity or improper planning, others due to bad luck or just sheer over-confidence/optimism. In any case when people try to push the envelope, this stuff happens (not only in sports).
But thanks for pointing out the obvious notion that I'm entitled to my opinion, so I'll return the favor and say likewise, so are you. And regarding the young climber, as a fellow rock climber in fact I agree with you -- and it wasn't meant as example of stupidity but rather that young kids are continually pushing boundaries (irregardless of whether they're supervised or unsupervised). When you were a teen didn't you do anything crazy, even stupid? Did none of your friends/peers try smoking Camels or Marlboros, just to be cool? (like kids are doing now with vaping -- not that I'm trying to support this, I'm just not shocked).
Btw, if that young girl in the climb had tragically been killed by say a falling rock out of nowhere (it happens there), I wonder if you'd still be saying it's not an example of stupidity, or, as I suspect, jumping on the bandwagon of peeps calling her and/or dad stupid, reckless, etc...
Regardless my main point still stands: kids doing crazy/stupid things is nothing new -- they were doing them when you were a kid, and me/friends did them too when we were kids ~45 years ago (in fact I'm still doing them once in a while nowadays) and they're still doing them today. Not saying this fact of life is always good or always bad, just saying it's reality.
