If you need a water change stop let me know. I'm in Lake Elmo, MN off of HWY 94. No RO, but free well water.

My studies are mainly in the area of pimelodidae right now, but eventually will encompass all catfish. The first book I'm authoring will deal exclusively with pimelodidae and their hybrids."
I can get you some white catfish next summer. I catch lots of yoy in our seine survey. They would probably ship better than larger specimens too. They aren't native to Maine so I "remove" all that I catch. Might be able to get you some brown bullheads too.
If you need just a fin clip for DNA, that's no problem either.
Wet Whiskers;4767876; said:I'm certain we could figure out shipping (drilled plastic tub inside bag of water inside shipping box), but it would be a bit expensive and possibly a little risky. It would be best if he was driven, but I think if someone really knows what their doing and cost isn't prohibitive it could work. He's just hanging out in my 600 with the big guys right now, so there is zero rush. Just know if we can work it out at some point, you can have him. He's a friendly little guy. I'll keep the potential for meeting up somewhere in mind when I plan any trips.
Don't know if it was my fish you were thinking of. My two big nigers only are about 30" or so. They've still got some good growing to do.
Fortunately, I can't say I currently have any catfish skeletons, but if that sad day comes I'll ship a giant frozen catfish to you to skeletonize for your collection.

amazonfishman;4771738; said:They don't have anything that unusual per say at the moment but they have the facilities too house some true monsters. There is a 200,000 gallon main tank thats an amazon exhibit. Several large redtails in the 4-5' range, a couple pseudoplatystoma in the main tank also, I donated my 28" one there a few years back when I had to break down my pond. They had some pangasius gigas for a while also, I think a few are still around.
It's an incredible place and one that I frequent on a fairly regular basis.
Wiggles92;4779686; said:When do you expect to be in OH and PA?
I've got a little (5" or so) RTC with me at college here in northwestern OH that's going to need a new home in a few months, so I could see about getting it to you along your journey.
I also have a large pond back home in western PA with native fish including a few different species of catfish (channel, bullhead, flathead, etc.); some of the catfish are decent sized (longer than 2'). You could sample them if we can arrange something.
