Here are 2 interesting sites showing how bobby hill keeps his lizards. Just wait till you see these pictures. It cleary proves that bobby is an importer of tegus. Anybody knows you cannot breed 1000 tegus a year over there. This also speaks volumes as to why bobby hill always pre-sells his babies.... there are no worries about tegus not breeding or bad eggs or such. Imports are like clockwork. No worry about South America running out of baby tegus anytime soon. Now, I do not have a problem with imports as long as the animals are labeled as such. But bobby does not do that, he sells imports as captive breds. So I would be aware of that.

Anybody know this dragondave guy from tegutalk.com ?
He wants to sell me baby blue tegus for $20 each (bulk). Just one problem,...I don't know the guy at all. Is he a newbie? Or is he just a backyard breeder who is not in it for the money?

I got these details from him personally:
David W. Fengler
8 Laurel Ridge Ct.
Wallingford, CT 06492-2158
Tel 203-949-0232 (USA)

Thanks for any info on this guy you might be able to share with me. I know $20 is not much, but multiplied by 10 plus shipping overseas it becomes a lot quickly! And paypal is not save either I am afraid. He said I could stop by anytime I want, but I am nowhere near to where he lives.

I assume you were the same person who was trolling them over on tegutalk too?

I've personally dealt with Bobby Hill and he is in my opinion one of the best tegu breeders. He is a wealth of information and always willing to answer your questions. I'm very pleased with my Argentine black and white tegu I received from him. I have no idea where you get the idea that he imports his tegus. Imported tegus normally are shipped in spring, while all his tegus hatch in mid-summer to early autumn. I've seen the pictures of his breeders and the pictures of his facility he has on his website.

I have not directly dealt with Davedragon, but from what I gather from his posts he seems to be a honest and trustworthy guy. I've also have read Dave's post about his breeders and have even seen the pictures he has posted of them.

Many of the tegus this person breeds are not wild type ones, they are the product of some human hand selection. At the least those are not imports by any means. Relative to the others I find unlikely the import theory still. And you could have 1000 tegus for sale bred by you in teory, they are a prolific species. Im not shure how many agama international bred every year but Im shure it was allot of lizards. With enough space and man power you can surpass that number.

Notice this poster has two posts on MFK... this is simply someone joining forums under a masked name to attack Bobby Hill / Varnyard Tegus...

Bobby ships his hatchlings in August, when they still have green heads. Anyone knowledgable in Tegus knows the green head dissappears in the first couple of months of life.

Bobby's Tegus very very consistently go into hibernation in early winter. That means they are conditioned from birth to Northern Hemisphere seasons (Southern Hemisphere seasons are opposite the Northern Hemisphere's seasons).

The above poster is simply one of Bobby's competitors who cannot out compete Bobby with good breeding & good business... so he is resorting to throwing mud... quite childish if you ask me...
