vatf

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
For flow, I use the volume of the tank times 50 as a rule of thumb when determining the gph for a tank. For my 150 growout, I blew that out and was running 8800 gph. The tigers were hppy as a pig in poop.

The drip would be a good idea. I've found tigers to be fairly adaptable as far as hardness and ph, but they do NOT tolerate nitrite or nitrate. Mine would normally stop eating well when no2 or no3 got UP to as LOW as 15-20 ppm. I did regular 50% WC and I had a thriving, large pothos colony. I'd have set up a drip in a heartbeat if I had the means to do so at th time.

Awesome ....... ph is pretty high here around 8 ..... glad the drip would work figured the cleaner i can keep the water and feedings the better the growth rate ..... should i still have it go through activated carbon tho? Or nit needed... when i had my drip set up on my 300 gallon pond for the piranhas i didnt use carbon or anything just had it drip right in ........wasnt sure since the water being added wouldnt have decholrinator added to it

If you're on city water, I'd do the carbon. When I was starting out, I managed to kill an entire tank of natives on city water by not using a dechlorinator.

Looks like the original 50 gallon for a grow out is a no go ....gonna have to go with a 40b ..... till what size do u guys think the vatf will be ok in the 40b ..... there will be 5-6000 gallons of water flow with powerheads
