Reference to chimp had me laughing. Aside from that, I am horrified.
 
Isn't lymphadema a build up if fluid? I just bought about why it would take 12 hours to drain it... Was there some skin removal to make daily life easier?

Elephantiasis or something its called... pretty scary diseases and was (not sure if it still is) a common disease in Africa where one or more areas of the body would swell to enormous sizes...
