I am going to go against the grain and say Synspilum. The black lateral line extending from caudal drops down instead of extending straight out.

With the lack of lighting in the pic, what I'm looking at is the large dark area above the lat line. That is more characteristic of bifs. Besides, even though the lat line does kinda dive, it does start to curve back up. :D

I was given the same advice when I purchased a 5" Vieja. Was told it was a Bifa.
When she reached the 7" mark she showed all the markings of a syns, including black along the upper black. Which came and went with her moods. That doesn't mean I am right or wrong just pointing out.:)
We definitely need better pics with more lighting. No way to say for sure with these pics.

Either one is a nice Vieja, it also appears to be female.

Thats what I thought too, but viejas are hard to tell as juvies and I guess adults as well as proven here.

Ehhh.....Ehhhh....Still leaning towards biff, but honestly I'm not 100% because biffs red face tends to "freckle", rather than be solid. How big is your snook?!

Sweet! Sorry to change topic, but you HAVE to let us (or at least me for that matter!) know if the male gets much bigger....Now, any more input on the vieja?? I'm curious on others thoughts!

Still leaning towards Syns. LOL:) But just as you are Pbrady, I am not 100%
either. HaHa Color looks washed out, but reminds me alot of my female Syns that I just got rid of.
