Vendor mix up @ LFS!

it all depend on the fish , i seen a dovii in a lfs getting handled by a blood parret even though he was getting doubled time a little but it was mainly one on one and he was getting pretty much handled and i thought bp were punks

Too small for Dovii. I wouldn't keep a Dovii in anything under 240 gallons. Mannies are alright for a 150 until they reach 15". Mota's are also great.[/quote]

if motas got as big as doviis or jags thata would be scary as hell, my rtm male beats my male jag thats about 1/3 larger every time they lip lock in around 2 seconds, those teeth are just so nasty

What would y'all think would woop a dovii then. I'd say a Black Nasty, Blue freckled Monster...a full grown jag 16"+, maybe a full grown amphilophus chancho 18"+...Beani, Festae,

Ok, so I go to my LFS today and check all the new fish as usual. I take a look at the jag tank (usually filled with 1-2" jags), and I see something odd. All the small jags are huddled in the top left corner of the tank. Upon closer inspection, I realize what is going on. There is a small Dovii in tank beating the hell out of all the jags. I took a pic with my new Blackberry, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it to my computer. Well, I got one of the guys working there to get the Dovii out and get him in a tank by himself. Turns out there is also a small Dovii female that was hiding under a rock. She looks pretty bad, so he just left her in there. It looks like their vendor sent them the Dovii by mistake. Poor jags.

What LFS was it? the Playhouse? I looked at their jag tank there yesterday and didn't see anything unusual, though I just seen the tiny jags.... I remember both of mine at that size. I was hoping to find a good sized female for my jag.

Dovii are easily the smartest cichlid out there - awesome fish you can bring yourself to dedicate a large tank to them.

In a way true. The manny is probably the biggest cichlid competetor against the Dovii though.

ive seen single male dovii done in 150G i also seen lotsa pairs in a 180.
