Vendors with AUL?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
trops are pond bread in asia - primo parent company is in the phillipines so that they should be able to be cheap on- aul only one breeder in the world is authorized to sell and export- the one listed above- I think they charge like 350 a fish in a ten pack then it would need to be shipped to the phillipines if primo and then to the us then marked up - do the math.

You seem pretty knowledgeable on the subject so I must ask if you could name the breeder to let us get in contact.

I'm familiar with the price. The money is waiting. I'm way under budget on the tank I'm setting up thanks to presently irrelevant reasons. I'm not sure how much luck I would have finding a group of ten. Maybe I'll get in touch with a few lfs and see if anyone is interested.

That said, is anyone else here interested in trying to coordinate a group buy? The logistics would be tough, but possible to work out. I'll contact the company and see if they would ship to multiple airports on a single order.

I'm definitely in, but with my work and everything else, I am just looking to jump on board with an order. I coordinate projects for a living if I'm at work or not, so I don't really want to take on this haha. Again, If you or anyone else can find another 8 people, consider me in.

Just throwing this question out there and not to get off topic, but do you really think that when you get trop./cuban gars at all roughly the same size from CA compared to Asia that they don't come from some sort of farm or farming setup (fish pens set up in rivers)? Same goes with albino/platinum color variants of fish like arapaima/arowanas/catfish from Asia vs SA? Is it possible for a plat/albino fish to survive in the wild until the few fortunate specimens that make it to your LFS/retailer are caught by fisherman in a river that spans all of (for example) Peru or Colombia, or do they also come from a farm/fish pen from their country of origin and does that in turn earn them the label of being WC?

Doing the math, if AUL's are available wouldn't Primo Aquatics send it straight to the US? It is a business and don't most businesses aim to minimize superfluous expenses? Yes, a bunch of different type of fish are being bred in Asia, and sold at perhaps a slightly cheaper price than whats offered from their country of origin/places that they are being produced closer to the US. However shipping costs and risks (mortality due to time in transit) involved with shipping fish from Asia to the US compared to getting a shipment from CA/SA is a totally different matter altogether. So I don't think that the sole reason for the really great pricing on the SS trop. gars is because they are "cheap" and being pond bred in Asia. Seems like their price for NGT's and other stuff they have in stock are also significantly lower than prices they were offered previously. Just trying to open your eyes a bit, and I hope that the questions I asked and points I raised made sense.

Oh I agree with some of this- other then there are not any trops available to the US from SA/CA at this time so either SA is not ponding them or not offering to the US market. As far as the primo stuff speaking to there rep there fish are coming from there "mother store" his words not mine so there is my assumption on to phillipines then to USA. If they can offer AULS at a decent price I will be the first in line for one. BUT the point of the conversation was to my knowledge AULS are not pond raised in asia or SA and would ultimatley have to come from the only commercial producer I know of whether through primo or any other vendor. As far as your assumpitons about plat/albino etc yes the readiliy available types are farmed somewhere but there are still odd balls that show up straight from the rivers of SA/CA.
