Just throwing this question out there and not to get off topic, but do you really think that when you get trop./cuban gars at all roughly the same size from CA compared to Asia that they don't come from some sort of farm or farming setup (fish pens set up in rivers)? Same goes with albino/platinum color variants of fish like arapaima/arowanas/catfish from Asia vs SA? Is it possible for a plat/albino fish to survive in the wild until the few fortunate specimens that make it to your LFS/retailer are caught by fisherman in a river that spans all of (for example) Peru or Colombia, or do they also come from a farm/fish pen from their country of origin and does that in turn earn them the label of being WC?
Doing the math, if AUL's are available wouldn't Primo Aquatics send it straight to the US? It is a business and don't most businesses aim to minimize superfluous expenses? Yes, a bunch of different type of fish are being bred in Asia, and sold at perhaps a slightly cheaper price than whats offered from their country of origin/places that they are being produced closer to the US. However shipping costs and risks (mortality due to time in transit) involved with shipping fish from Asia to the US compared to getting a shipment from CA/SA is a totally different matter altogether. So I don't think that the sole reason for the really great pricing on the SS trop. gars is because they are "cheap" and being pond bred in Asia. Seems like their price for NGT's and other stuff they have in stock are also significantly lower than prices they were offered previously. Just trying to open your eyes a bit, and I hope that the questions I asked and points I raised made sense.
