Venting Fish

ok some people are experts at this me i am not , my question is what am i looking for when venting , i know some cichlids are different then other but in general what am i looking for and can u vent at any size or they have to be a certain size before u vent.

What does bump mean and what does venting your fish mean?

"Bump" is what ppl use to make a thread go to the top or TTT is also what its called, when a thread starts to go down the list less ppl are likely to post or notice it. So thats why ppl say bump or TTT to make the thread go back up.

And if you want to know what Venting means, its when someone takes a special fish venting tool takes a fish that has a gases in it's swim bladder, takes the tool and puncture the swim bladder at a certain angle allowing the gases to be released and letting the fish go back to it's normal swimming patterns.

i believe he means sexing a fish when used the term "venting" the shape of the vent determines sex

Oh really well I learned from the experience in the hobby that fish keepers would say Venting for the name of the process when someone removes the gases from the fish's swim bladder with a needle like tool.

But if thats what he meant then whatever thanks for the catch on that Ken.
