Venting (sexing) Peacock Bass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This actually clears how can we vent. However, the question here is how can we identify which one is what....

I have 3 pbass which were merely 3 inches when i gor them.
Waiting for a perfect understanding as to identify the sex.
Help appreciated

I just recommend waiting for Cichla to get larger and more mature. The hump on the head is always telltale for the males. Females lack the hump. My 18" male Intermedia got it's hump at around 12".

I’m trying to determine the sex of my two Cichla marinae. These are photos of their genital papilla—can anyone help tell if they’re male or female?

A general rule in venting is same sized vent oo = M, & small hole & bigger hole oO = F
Disclaimer; I am not experienced w cichla venting.
My thoughts are that the triangulated shape of (A) definitely looks male, and (B) is triangulated also, typically male, but since the species is the same and the vents are distinctly different sizes I would think female.
