Hey y’all. So my Cuban has been doing great in terms of eating, behavior, etc. but man he is dark! His belly is mostly black. His dorsal side is definitely the green/gold but as you can see the rest is very dark. Normal?

He’s about 8”. Ph 7.4-6 ammonia 0.0. No2 0.0. No3 20-40ppm

Sorry the glass is dirty and there’s a little glare issue. But I think you can see pretty clear.

Not sure tbh, are you sure on the I'd, not a tropical gar?

This is mine under the right lighting. In other parts of the tank it looks almost black and some days/times it' darker others lighter. To me yours is looking good. If its feeding and acting normal don't worry. All fish will look different from one another.

Good to see yours Troy1015 ! Yeah he is doing so much better. They’re all three like dogs waiting for almost any food I’ll drop in the tank. I don’t mind that he’s so dark, just didn’t know if it was common. I haven’t seen too much variations in adult Cubans from pics. But I guess here’s a lot less pictures than of other species.
