Very Long Gar Fasting Period

in almost all cases i wouldn't medicate my gars, increasng the temperature, water changes & adding salt usually does the trick. under certain circumstances you may need to medicate, in which case you must know exactly how to do it & the dosage required, as gars are quite different in terms of medication from 'general' fish, i'd suggest going to e_americanus or perun for advise in the area.

incidentally, what's the case with your new gar that you felt the need to medicate it?

when many people on this forum get stingrays they do a prazi treatment for parasites. after that some do a yearly preventive dose just in case.
i was just following others advise that have more experience then me.

No need to wait for solomon to chime in because I'm 100% positive he has said it before in a previous post. I remember it saying that they fast even for months on end for no reason and it doesn't do any harm. Search "gar not eating" or "gar refusing to eat" and i'm sure you will find your exact same question.
