Very Nice pairs!

I knew that this early morning's revelation was some kind of sign. Wasn't sure though if is was a good or bad sign.
As it turns out, they were very good signs, those pairs. Went back to fish some more after lunch and caught this pair of a 17+ inch male and 15+ inch female. Given as a reward to another fisherman vacationing in the neighborhood from the Dominican Republic who was kind enough to take my picture with the fish.

Don't you feel just a little guilty catching pairs? I (and most of the people I knew who fished for tucs in Hawaii) would catch at most one parent due to the fact that they're usually guarding a spawning pit or fry. Keeps the stress down and a better chance for the fry to grow up, at least that's how I rationalize it.
Guess it might be different because they were unintentionally introduced in Florida and purposely introduced in Hawaii as a game fish (catch and release only)?

Actually they were intentionally introduced in Florida, too. PB here in Florida, at least in our lake is not in danger of extinction. For every pair I catch I see at least 10 other pairs swimming around with huge schools of fries. Last year I caught over 100 Peas, all of them over 12 inch. This year I have a good shot of catching even more. I've already caught 70 so far and there's at least 3 months left of good fishing for these fellas.
There's many many thousands of weaned fries swimming around were I fish for them.

On Oahu 100 pbass in a day isn't unheard of. Of course, they're guides on boats. Best I could ever do was 4-5.

sometimes its the pairs you dont catch but get to see that makes it so much better.
