One of my silver bala sharks died yesterday, then abother today as we'll as my arowana. I'm gutted and really pissed of and upset. Going ti get some de-chlorine stuff and new fishe and more media as soon as the shops open. Only thing I can think of is nitrate or something. Fish have been off there food though so might be something else. Ps I added a giant gourami the other day if that coud be a cause. Heeeelp

Well that sure sucks, sorry man. Need to know more to guess what went wrong though. It sounds like you don't know your water parameters, so take some water to the shop and they'll test it for you (cheap/free), while there buy a test kit(less cheap, but you have expensive fish, so you can afford it), they are quite handy.

Also I know you know, but you need a bigger tank stat. Might take the gourami back if you haven't gotten too attached. I wouldn't buy anymore fish until the ones you got stop dying on you.

yes it is fully cycled :-( i got 3 baby balas to replace as i know they are a shoaling fish got an irridescent catfish too as i know they are slow growers. I got some aqua safe and some safe start and media to top up current. i also got the loads of plants and bogwood as i think they deserve it after the trouble they had. I'l do weekly checks now and be extra careful. think i'l hold back on getting another arowana until i buy a 2nd hand 400gal odd that way it gives my ghost knifefish etc time to grow

Yes how big of a tank we talking here? Also Prime is the best water treatment IMO. GG when big can be downright nasty. Any signs of being attacked on the dead fish?

No my gourami is placid as hell. The nitrate level
s spiked overnight that's why it died. I've sorted my tank out now looks lovely. Its just off 200uk gal which are more than usa gal. I'm uing my tank to an 8 or 10 ft but have a little more time now my arow has passed away. The id sharks are slow growers and everything in the tank should be ok for 6 to 9 months

I'm sorry to hear about your losses. Aro's and balas are nice fish.
